30-31: What Dizz Did

I'm ending the month of visuals with yet more visuals, cos that other thing that I normally do is very wordy and takes forever. I can hardly believe that along with all the work I've actually posted almost every day this month. I've really enjoyed taking photos and am now drooling over DSLR cameras that I really can't afford and definitely don't need. Off topic. Returning back.

2013. What a year! Highs and lows with very little fair to middling. In true British tradition there has been much talk of the weather. The year started with snow, we had one of the most glorious summers I can remember for a long time which ended up being a bit soggy and that's pretty much how it's been since then, with some odd epic gales thrown in for good measure:

February was pretty monumental. After 12 long years in libraryland, I quit my job and went back to school! Carpe diem and all that jazz.

It's easily the best decision I made in a long time. I love it. It's bloody hard and challenges the eff out of me but now when I walk into libraryland I have a big old smile on my face. This is a tidy representation of how the house looks when I'm busy with work:

In other book related news, Wavey built me my own library. The man is quite simply the best!

We had another jolly holiday in France, but we also enjoyed two cracking weekends in London. There are many things I miss about living there and the odd trip or two lets me catch up with museums and galleries and all the sights that are so easy to take for granted.

With the help of T. this was truly the year of the bake off. Having always enjoyed baking up a cake or two, a few choice lessons have really increased my confidence and I'm willing to tackle anything now. The smoothness of my Christmas cake icing was commented on by both Wavey and Tizz - the girl done good.

I went through a period of taking weird selfies. I say weird as they were all strange angles and not really of my face. At the time I felt they were too random to share but it seems like a good time for random. I call these two "Legs" and "Scarf"

With a new lease of life and energy I set about volunteering my socks off all in the name of boosting my work experience. 2013 saw me at the very first Festival of Thrift, working the door at Teesside Oxjam, kicking my theatre group into the 21st century by persuading them to give online ticketing a try, and enhancing my social media skills through another charity. I want to keep this going into 2014 as it is something I really do enjoy heaps.

Upon returning to uni for the second semester I kind of said goodbye to my life as I knew it and handed it over to my course. It's been busy. Like way busy. Even now I have a list that covers one side of A4 and the end seems to be nowhere in sight. I apologise if I bored you via the blog and any other social media type places with all my whining and moaning, I love it really. Suddenly Christmas was here. I'm still not even sure how that happened. It's been a quiet one. Reflective if you will. The best thing about it was definitely seeing Tizz. Just today when she left I said to Wavey, I can't believe we have to say goodbye again, it's too soon! I hope to suddenly come into some magic money so that I can make a trip down to see her very soon.

So there you have it. What Dizz Did in 2013.

I wish you all a very Happy New Year and raise my glass in a toast to 2014 x

Sunday 29 December 2013

29: oh it's such a perfect day...

Had a most crackin' day today. Slept in, met up with friends for coffee and crumpets, went to the beach with Fizz and ran about trying to make Chewey run after me, funnily enough he wasn't that keen. Went back to the house of Fizz and ate more crumpets (there can never be enough crumpets) and had a good old natter about all sorts of everything. Returned to a toasty warm house and an evening in with Wavey.

Only feel slightly guilty about not doing any uni work.

This should be what Sundays are made for. Is it Sunday? So confused with the days...

And here's some visuals from the beach:

And for the extra awwwww factor, here's a little photo of Chewey. He is such a cutie!

27-28: It looked a lot like Christmas

On Christmas Eve Tizz came round and we drank wine, a supermarket version of Jagermeister and put our artistic talents to work to ice the Christmas cake:

On Christmas Day we cooked two Christmas dinners, one of which we delivered meals on wheels style. I was most relieved to receive a compliments to the chef phone call later that day. Tis a bit eep-y cooking Christmas dinner for the in-laws! We also wore our comedy Christmas t-shirts and I rocked out in my new slippers which are the best!

We might have enjoyed a few social beverages...

We ended a busy day sitting in the dark, with all the shiny lights sparkling, the fire roaring, and bid a fond and ever so slightly tearful farewell to the most loveable Raggedy-Man Dr Who there ever was. That and a few more quality Christmas television programmes.

It was thankfully, a merry old time indeed.

20: Hungry

Thursday 19 December 2013

18-19: The tree that swayed

I wonder if it was the wind outside that knocked it to the ground 5 minutes after we'd gone to bed...?

Tuesday 17 December 2013

17: Stacks/Sticky

I've been working on Wavey's secret Christmas present today. There's a lot of glue involved. Basically I'm covered in it. Nothing in my life is tidy!

I also have a lot of reading to do:

Monday 16 December 2013

16: Red handed!

It's confirmed. Alan is definitely supping on the Christmas spirit. I caught him red handed yesterday. Look at that face. No shame!

Sunday 15 December 2013

14-15: Fudge/Four Fifteen AM/Fluff

Made fudge this weekend. Fizz has just been round to help us decide if it is suitable to give away as gifts. After very careful taste testing, it has passed inspection. The icecream was pretty crackin' too.

Keep on waking up at 4.15 am. Pretty hideous hour to be awake. Think it will probably be consistent until all this work I've got going done is signed off.

In other news, it would seem that Alan has been sniffing the Christmas spirit a bit too much. I found him collapsed head first into the hairdryer basket today.

You just can't trust anyone these days...
